    Originally built as a traditional pavilion in 1414 (14th year of King Taejong) by State Councilor Hwang Hui under the name “Gwangtongnu.” In 1444, Governor Jeong In-ji renamed it “Gwanghallu,” meaning “Palace in the Moon.” Reconstructed in 1638, the current Gwanghallu is one of Korea’s four great pavilions, renowned for its harmonious blend of mountains, water, and architecture in a traditional garden setting.
